Regulatory confidence for retailers selling finance and insurance
ITC Compliance enables retailers to grow revenue from finance and insurance products while maintaining strong regulatory control. As the FCA Principal Firm, ITC provides the required regulatory oversight and extends its Professional Indemnity Insurance to network members, removing financial and operational barriers to entry.
We work with retailers of all sizes to help them offer regulated insurance and consumer credit products compliantly, efficiently, and with confidence, while removing the burden of direct FCA regulation.
Why retailers choose ITC Compliance
Simplified access to regulated retail finance and insurance
Retail and consumer goods businesses whose primary activity is not financial services can carry out regulated insurance and consumer credit activities through ITC as their Principal Firm. This removes the need for direct FCA authorisation while providing a compliant framework for offering finance, warranties, protection products, and other regulated services at the point of sale.
Reduced regulatory burden for retail businesses
Operating under ITC’s Appointed Representative status allows retailers to avoid direct FCA scrutiny, reporting obligations, and senior management liability. ITC assumes responsibility for regulatory oversight, systems, and controls, significantly reducing regulatory risk and administrative burden for retail businesses operating in a highly regulated environment.
Compliance designed for secondary intermediaries
Retailers face increasing regulatory expectations alongside high transaction volumes and varied customer journeys. ITC specialises in supporting secondary intermediaries, translating complex FCA requirements into clear, practical processes that fit real-world retail operations while supporting Consumer Duty outcomes.
Ongoing oversight and support
Retail partners benefit from dedicated account management, experienced compliance specialists, and ongoing risk-based monitoring. This includes audits, quality assurance, financial promotion reviews, and continuous horizon scanning to ensure retail businesses remain aligned with FCA expectations as regulation and guidance evolve.

The Appointed Representative (AR) model is the most common way businesses work with ITC Compliance. It allows companies whose primary activity is not financial services to carry out regulated insurance and consumer credit activities under ITC’s FCA permissions, without becoming directly authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority.
Introducer Appointed Representative (IAR) status is a more limited form of Appointed Representative status. It allows businesses to introduce customers to providers of regulated insurance or finance products, without being involved in advising, recommending, or completing applications.
Virtual Appointed Representative (VAR) is designed for businesses that want to become directly authorised by the FCA but need expert support to navigate the application and ongoing compliance requirements. ITC sifts through regulations and provides simple systems, paperwork, and controls to firms, including support with complaints.
ITC Compliance Consultancy is designed for firms that are already FCA authorised or do not wish to operate as Appointed Representatives. This service provides expert regulatory support while allowing the business to remain fully responsible to the FCA.
